Amy’s Wellness Journey

  • It was a long bumpy road, filled with white bread, canned vegetables, TV dinners & soda.

Don't get me wrong, my mom made dinner just about every night but back in the 80's, nutrition wasn't a topic like it is today, at least not in my family. I always stayed active as a kid but didn't discover the true benefits of good nutrition & exercise until later in my 30's. However, after my divorce in my early 40's I fell off track for about a year & went a little bonkers with emotional eating and drinking. I still worked out but more for my ego and less for my well being. I was depressed, tired, unmotivated and full of self pity. I also discovered I was going through early menopause. This discovery wasn't necessarily an overnight wake up call but it did force me to take a closer look at how I was living. I realized I needed & wanted to take better care of myself again and unlearn some habits and thought patterns that were not beneficial to me or my kids. I began a headfirst dive into all things self-development and self-care, including hiring my own life coach and eventually enrolling in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. My already established love for exercise and eating well combined with my new found love for all things self development aligned perfectly with what IIN was teaching.

  • Thankfully, today, at 50, my choices are a bit more balanced and more nutritious than in my younger years but still allows me to enjoy life the way I want. I love juicing everything and anything as well as a Tito’s with club every once in awhile. I like salads with greens and pizza with hot sauce. I know going to bed early might set me up for success, but there are still nights where I’m the last to turn out the lights. I'm happy to say, that all of this is OK! It's about balance. I’m on my own journey and I allow myself room to grow, learn and evolve. It's about progress over perfection. It's about being disciplined but also giving yourself grace. I’ve decided to find what works for me and what makes me feel my best without the need to be overly restrictive. What’s healthy for one person may not be healthy for the next. As a health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition I know that no one way works for all. I am here to help you on your own health and wellness journey. I am here to listen and to support you toward a well balanced life throughout midlife and to provide encouragement and tips along the way. As your coach I want nothing more than to see you energized & thriving. I want to equip you with all the tools you need to keep showing up as your happiest and healthiest self!

NUTRITION

Nutrition plays a key role in our health but it doesn’t have to be all or nothing when it comes to healthy food. A balanced diet should be full of foods that bring you joy and makes you feel nourished and strong. It’s about moderation and common sense and of course it depends on each individual because we are all different.

MOVEMENT

Movement is vital to a healthy life. With so many ways to move, the possibilities are endless. From walking to biking to lifting and yoga and everything in between. When you find what you love then it becomes something you “Get” to do rather than something you “Have” to do.

MINDFULNESS

This is where mind, body & breath connect. There are so many simple ways to incorporate this into your life. And, believe it or not, mindfulness can play a role in weight loss and energy gains. This simple tool is easy to access anywhere at any time.

Does Any Of The Following Ring True For You?

  • Exhaustion is normal for you and you've accepted that feeling tired just comes with age

  • You feel unmotivated and lack discipline when it comes to exercise

  • You'd love to eat healthier but don't have the time or the know how to cook healthy recipes

  • You've gained extra weight since hitting your 40's/50's with your jeans fitting just a little too tight

I’m Here to Tell You, It Doesn’t Have to be This Way.

I know many women who have attempted to improve their health, only to fall victim to the ideas of perfection or an all or nothing attitude. This usually leads to unhealthy habits or simply throwing in the towel. Over time, especially as I’ve aged, I started focusing on progress over perfection. I have found that taking small steps and making small changes leads to big results and causes a ripple affect in creating more positive habits.

As your health coach, I work with you from wherever you are starting on your journey. Together, we get to the root of whats draining your energy & holding you back from living your healthiest life. We dig deep and look at your health as a whole by using a mind & body approach. I help you to find the right strategy that gets you to your goals in the most efficient and sustainable way.

“Working with Coach Amy is like having a wellness partner and a cheerleader all rolled into one! She assists you with flushing out your goals and creating an individualized plan. Her check-ins give you that much needed support when implementing something new. Together you will develop creative ways to face the challenges that come with making progress. I built more than just habits while working with Amy, I created a lifestyle. I hired Amy to help me create and maintain a meal prep plan that would accommodate my busy schedule as a school teacher and yoga instructor. Her wealth of knowledge included the blood type diet I had already been following. Amy shared quick and convenient recipes that I added to my weekly meal prep plan. Her inspiring list of affirmations was yet another personal touch that made this journey about wellness, rather than just a checklist of tasks to be done. After completing her program, I'm STILL putting into practice those daily and weekly steps to ensure my well-being. Amy is knowledgeable, genuine, compassionate and encouraging. She is THEE PERFECT COACH for a person who is committed to their own growth, AND up for the challenge. Amy will support, but not coddle, so BE READY!”

She meets you where you are and offers creative and practical suggestions to achieve your goals, without judgment. Amy is super inspiring yet super chill and has a huge heart. She has such a positive outlook on life yet she's down to earth and real about it. She knows first hand the power of believing in yourself + spending time with people that believe in you too and she'll make sure you have that experience in working with her. She's there for the up days, the down days, and everything in between with compassionate encouragement and motivation to keep at it. The thing I appreciated most about working with Amy was her commitment to encouraging me in ways that best suited my lifestyle, needs and ambitions. Throughout our time working together, I always felt understood, cared for and supported.”
